monthly recap | april 2017

What a crazy busy weekend. I haven't organized this much, like...ever. The Man Friend and I managed to get all of the kitchen and dining room boxes unpacked (including all of the wine, hurray!) over the weekend. I'm trying to figure out how to organize the space as best we can but it's hard...we had to go buy a storage locker to keep all of my serving trays and heavier kitchen appliances.

Also - I am too short to reach my cabinets.

But without further ado, here's a little summary of how April went down.

top blog of the month

My sweet little sister married the perfect guy for her earlier this month. Even though we were definitely missing a huge part of our family, we were so lucky to have had an opportunity to share their special day with them. Wishing you all the best, seester!

hpotm (hot post of the month)

Everyone was in the romantic frame of mind, because a quick shot of the beautifully rustic wedding decor from Sarah's wedding snagged the most popular Facebook post this month.

insta-greatness

Looks like people were excited to see that I was back in the kitchen. A photo of fresh seafood stock for some delicious étouffée got the most attention in April.

travel

Dude. Most of my month was spent packing, moving, and unpacking. Suuuuuck. We managed seven states in three days to get to Pittsburgh. I haven't written about it yet, but it was just long. And boring. But it's done. We did manage to sneak off for a little fun evening in the Hill Country town of Boerne. Make the time to go - it's beautiful. I also shared a few tips on picking a good travel partner. You know - for the times when you drive cross-country with them and three animals and you still don't want to injure them by the time you're through.

food

Whether you're using fresh seafood stock for some delicious and spicy crawfish and shrimp étouffée or you're curing a hangover with pain perdu, there were a few recipes on the blog this month.

P.S. - GREAT news! My kitchen in the new house got put together this afternoon. Expect some great new recipes out of the new kitchen!

books

I am the worst. First, because I accidentally packed my copy of The Joy Luck Club. Second, because I've barely gotten in any reading time. However, now that the house is coming along, expect to see a lot more posts of books I'm digging into in my new reading room. In the meantime, here's what my nose in buried in now.

upcoming plans

Unpack. Throw away boxes. Puppy-proof the yard. Make sure the cat stays in the house. Unpack. Reorganize. Work. Blog. Instagram.

You know. Boring stuff. TBD on any weekend trips! I can't WAIT to get a more consistent routine down now that I'm finally in Pittsburgh. *fingers crossed*
