monthly recap | august 2016
Oy. Is anyone else glad that August is over...or is it just me? I felt like August was one of the weirdest months I've ever experienced. It felt like 31 days of extremism. One minute things would be going along gloriously and the next, a caca cake. It was just weird. But we made it through and I've got some insights from Wine, Books, & Wanderlust to share. Peace out, August.
hpotm (hot post of the month)
I was a little surprised at this one, but the post about all of the amazing women I admire got the most activity this month. Guess that means I have a lot of fantastically feminist friends!
travels
I actually didn't travel much for fun this month. August's road trips were to provide moral support and manual labor to my dad and stepmom in Fort Worth (much love, y'all!). However, you can check out some travel point-building tips and ideas on how to keep healthy when you're on the go. You can also read the Man Friend's pointers if you're looking for a beer-filled weekend in Austin.
food
As September arrives, you'll probably be in the mood for some comfort food. Be sure to try taco soup, one of my family's favorites. I also went back to the kitchen basics this month and finally learned (kind of) how to make an omelet.
books
If August had anything great come out of it, it was definitely the amount of books I plowed through. If you're in the mood for a little vintage adventure, check out my recommendations on some great used books. I also reviewed Emma Cline's The Girls and filled you in on my humble opinions on hard copy versus ebooks.
upcoming plans
September is going to be a busy month, but I'm really excited about it. I get to mark a new place off of my list (Memphis!) mid-month. Also, my adorable little nephew turns one! We're basically planning to bring Toys R Us directly to him and giving him his weight in ice cream. Whatever that baby wants!
also...big news!
Stayed tuned tomorrow, so be sure to check out Facebook & Instagram. I think you'll "LIKE" it! I'm really excited about it and can't wait to "SHARE" it with you.
