the man friend's austin adventures
If you recall, I was left alone a few weekends ago. If you follow me on Instagram, it was the weekend of the impromptu plate purchases. The Man Friend traveled to Austin to hang out with his dad, drink some beer, and catch up. I stayed home by myself, drank wine in my underwear, and watched the Olympics.
One of the requirements of being married to a food and travel blogger is to share all of your food and travel pictures that I am not privy to. So, here are some of the Man Friend's favorites from his Austin adventures.

The Man Friend and I actually traveled here together back in March and it. did. not. disappoint. He's wanted to take his dad there since we first went. Their beer list is beyond impressive. Seriously.
"It was a little disappointing visit. First, it was hot as balls [his descriptor, not mine]. They also didn't have very many of their own brews this time.
However, they had a specialty, limited-edition sour red called CRU-55. They were only allowing one bottle per person, even going so far to mark your hand with a UV stamp to make sure you didn't try to buy more than one. It's by far the most expensive beer I've ever bought...and haven't even tasted yet. Though they didn't offer a lot of their own brews this trip, the sour IPA from Blue Owl Brewing made us want to go to their place the next day."

"This brewery makes nothing but sour beers. They offered 8 options. For $15, you get a glass and the option to taste 4 full glasses or 1/2 glasses if you want to try all 8. The sour session wheat (Little Boss) was an interesting, easy to drink beer, especially on a hot day. The sour IPA, which we originally tried at Jester King, was really tasty, too. The best beer they had available was called the Adjunct Professor, which was a sour blackberry stout. It was really different than anything I've ever tried, which made it interesting."

"They had a lot of their own beers on tap. The reason we decided to go there was for a beer called Electric Jellyfish. It was a New England-style, 'juicy' IPA. My dad has recently started making a similar style and while this one was good, I thought my dad's was better.
The pizza was fantastic. We split the 'Ooh La La' pizza, which was pepperoni, peppadew peppers, arugula (which I picked off), and, surprisingly enough, hot honey. Yes. Spicy honey. It was an interesting but delicious combination."

"We originally went to South Congress Cafe and Magnolia's, only to find a 2 hour wait and lines out of the door. Dad and I ended up heading towards a Torchy's Tacos when we stumbled on this place.
They were able to seat us almost immediately. The food is weird but delicious. Try the Angels Benedict, which is pulled pork, poached eggs, ranchero sauce, and sriracha hollandaise over corn tortillas. The burritos were massive. If you leave hungry, it's your own fault."
