Happy Halloween! I'm kind of sad to type that, because it means my favorite month of the year is almost over. However, the close of October means my favorite holiday is coming up. Yep, you guessed it...my favorite holiday is all about FOOD.

Ah, New Orleans. I haven't even been back a month and I'm already dying to go again. I don't know if it's the jambalaya, the music, or the beer I love more. I also shared some of my top travel bucket list destinations. If you're looking for some inspiration yourself, just hop onto Instagram. If you're looking for pure comfort food to help you ring in November, look no further than this simple, filling, and incredibly flavorful Belgian carbonnades flamandes. It's a beef and carrot stew in gravy made from beer. YUM! For dessert, try my favorite church-lady ginger molasses cookies for dessert. You won't be sorry.

October was a big month of reading for me. Be sure to read the second part of the HPOTM (my picks for creepy books). Also, I'm almost finished with two of the three books on my What I'm Reading Wednesday from earlier this month.
upcoming plans
Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving. The Man Friend and I are sticking close to home this month. My family always puts on a massive Thanksgiving meal (it takes us 2-3 days to cook everything), and his dad and stepmom are coming into town, as well. I'll be sharing my favorite fall recipes and some of my family's classic Turkey Day treats.
I will also be drinking a lot of wine, because (1) wine goes great with fall foods (2) we're receiving two new shipments in November.
Also, BIG NEWS! After a really great response, I'm going to be opening up a merchandise section on Wine, Books, & Wanderlust...just in time for Christmas! We'll be offering sassy coffee mugs to start, hopefully followed by some hilariously snarky t-shirts. We'll also be featuring freshly roasted coffee beans from our friends at Mello Coffee Roasters. Be sure to check back throughout the month for more info.
