weekend wine review | 11.11.16
So many people enjoy going out and partying on Friday nights.
I'm the exact opposite. I'm perfect happy to cook a yummy meal and camp my ass out at home. With wine, obviously.
One of our favorite wine clubs is a little bit of an obscure vineyard, tucked away in the hills of San Luis Obispo, California. It's a great little place called Kelsey Vineyards. It's surrounded by apple orchards (which they also turn into wine), with beautiful peacocks walking around. Their wines incredibly easy to drink and are really consistent.
I made homemade chili tonight (because it's less than 60 degrees outside) and instead of beer, the Man Friend and I opted for vino. Though Mourvèdre is usually a bit deeper in color and more complex in flavor (think Cabernet Sauvignon), this 2013 variety was more jammy and sweet. I didn't quite go with the chili, but it would have been fabulous with smoked chicken or something a bit less spicy. Regardless...there wasn't a bit left over.
And now the bad news: it's not available online. Be sure to sign up for their wine club for yummy little extra treats like this.
