phipps conservatory: a pictorial
Pittsburgh continues to surprise me. The Phipps Conservatory was no different.
This place is an oasis. Not that the Burgh isn't green enough. Phipps combines art with nature by creating winding paths filled with exotic plants, sculptures, ponds, and design aesthetics. There is enough science behind creating these masterpiece gardens (thanks for all the signs meant for little kids - I actually learned a lot!) to make the conservatory interesting. However, the beauty and thought behind all of these projects is breathtaking.
Additionally, the conservatory is currently hosting an art installation with blown glass by artist Jason Gamrath called Super. Natural. Some of these creations are over 14 feet tall and incorporated themselves into the live plants. Seeing is believing.
