what i'm reading wednesday | 01.04.17
There are some days I wish I could be one of those people who just read one book at a time. However, I read books like most people watch television...a lot going on at one time.
the queen of the tearing erika johansen
I wasn't quite sure what to expect with this series, but I purchased it based on all of the great reviews...and I have not been disappointed. So far, I think of it as The Hunger Games crossed with The Lord of the Rings. It's sort of a dystopian fantasy epic. The story will really suck you in, especially if you opt for the Audible version. Kelsea is the exiled princess of the Tear, secreted away with a foster family until she reaches her 19th birthday. Once she's old enough to rule, she's thrown into royal life, including internal treachery and the shadow of the evil Red Queen. It isn't my normal genre, but I'll tell you one thing: it's got me completely enchanted.
the girl you left behind jojo moyes
This book is actually part of my winter reading list! The book starts out in World War I France. Having been to Paris and visited different areas of France helps this book really hit home. I'm only a few chapters in and it's amazing. Moyes writes so clearly it's almost like you're there.
the never kristina circelli
I'm in a big art/fantasy mood this month for some reason. This book was actually purchased years ago, when I first started reading on my Kindle. The story revolves around an artistic woman who medicates herself to stay "normal." However, when she gets off of her medication, she's transported into a darkly magical land called The Never. The story is creepy but beautiful so far. We shall see.
